About Us

Montauk, NY 1996

Opened in 1996, Air and Speed was started by Stuart and Catherine Foley one cold winter in Montauk. Our goal was to provide the growing surf culture in the Montauk community with quality surf boards and apparel. At first we started small, but soon expanded into our new Montauk Highway location in the summer of 2005. Coming up on our 15th year in business, Air and Speed is now not only popular with our local customers, but all of those who choose to visit Montauk during the warm summer months. We offer an amazing selection of clothing and equipment from a wide variety of companies as well as a great selection of our Air & Speed apparel. Our store has a great hospitable vibe where you will find most of the Foley family working day in and day out along with a wonderful staff.

RENTALS

At Air and Speed we rent just about anything you can imagine to have a fun filled day at the beach or to just cruise around town. We have softtop longboards for beginners and epoxy short boards for all the shredders. Wetsuits for all ages, sizes, shapes and genders. We've got Stand up paddleboards for those of you who are looking for a tough work out, but we also have boogie boards for those of you who just want to lay down and enjoy the waves. We have a wide selection of cruiser Electra bicycles that come fully equipped with baskets and locks. If you need it, we got it. So don't be shy, we are all happy to help you have a great day in Montauk. For pricing please call our store or just swing by!

SURF LESSONS

Air and Speed has by far the most talented and experienced instructors on the East End. Whether it's your first time being in the ocean, or you're looking to shape up some of your already acquired surfing skills - we provide instructors for all ability levels. Jay, Max, Michael, Jesse and Bob all have over 10 years of surfing under their belts on top of 8 years of teaching experience. They are ready to get you in the water and shredding within your first lesson. We offer private lessons or group lessons up to however many friends you want to bring to the party! Welcome to Air and Speed Surf Camps! This July 2011 we'll be once again hitting Ditch Plains beach for another season. Our surf camp provides the ideal environment for kids to learn how to surf and become more water savy in a safe and fun environment. Stu Foley leads the pack along with his sons Michael, Jay, and Max as well as New York state lifeguard Bob Miller as instructors.

A typical day at surf camp includes step by step instructions on surfing, water safety tips, inspirational speeches and story-talk by our experienced instructors, water time to practice what they have learned, snacks and drinks, and sometimes a fun game on the beach. We make sure that every camper, regardless of experience, gets one-on-one attention and will be trained how to read the surf, paddle out, and catch a wave.

Camps are offered from the first week of July and through the second week of August.

Camp days are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. We will take any motivated shredder from ages 7 to 15. For more info and sign-up call our store or just stop by! *Space is limited*
